The BBC News Ticker is a speeddial extension. The "Speeddial" is a collection of links to your favourite web sites, these extensions can show much more information about these sites beyond simply an image.
This particular extension shows up to three news items from the BBC website at one time. It uses the RSS feeds to update - any BBC News RSS feed can be used.
